Last weekend, my old roommates and I decided to head up to Malibu and Santa Monica for a couple of days. (I was about to make a joke about them not being old roommates, just roommates from a long time ago, but then I flashed back to some of the conversations we had about our doctors, 401Ks and face wrinkles and … well just stay tuned for next week’s post on my midlife crisis.)
Anyway. Back to the weekend.
It was great. We drank a lot of wine, ate a lot of food, laughed, toasted and relaxed the weekend away. Here’s the proof.
We kicked things off with breakfast and mimosas at Claire’s at the Long Beach Museum of Art. Nice view, but a bit chilly!
Then we headed up to Malibu to sit in the sun and
gulp sip wine at Malibu and Vine Outdoor Wine Bar. The weather was perfect and the wine was nice. And the winery cat was cute, despite his snotty nose.
Cheers. After that tasting, we headed over to the next spot for a wine safari. Yes. A wine safari. With Malibu Wine Safaris – where the guides are hilarious and the pours are generous.
After the wine safari, we headed to out hotel in Santa Monica. The Huntley. Nice place, good location, and a fun restaurant/club on the top floor, which is perfect when you’re knocking on 30’s door and can’t be asked to leave the hotel for nighttime action. Anyway. We checked in, headed to dinner and walked along the 3rd Street Promenade on the way back.
The next morning we had breakfast back at The Penthouse, where I took a selfie of the four of us because I have the longest arms in the group. And probably most groups. Which is fine, except for the fact that the selfie taker is always 2 times larger than everyone else in the frame. That’s what they don’t tell you, ladies. Just say no.
